Trade shows: every industry has its own B2B events and calendar

Trade shows still set the pace of the wholesale season, but every industry has its own. From fashion to cosmetics by way of textile sourcing, the major international B2B events are listed here with their dates up to October 2027, along with the criteria for booking a stand where your buyers really go.

Key takeaways

  • Every industry has its own benchmark trade shows and calendar: an eyewear brand does not choose its show the way a ready-to-wear brand does.
  • A selling show is where you meet buyers; a sourcing show is where you choose your materials and manufacturers.
  • Most major shows take place once or twice a year, on dates that change from one year to the next: always check them on the official website.
  • The right show is chosen on the audience, the positioning and your customers’ buying calendar, not on its reputation alone.
  • Trade shows and showrooms work together: the first opens accounts, the second grows them.

An eyewear brand that exhibits at Who’s Next in September will mostly meet fashion boutiques. The opticians it is looking for will gather a few weeks later at SILMO Paris, the international optical fair. The mistake costs a stand, travel, samples and several days of team time, for a handful of off-target contacts.

For many brands, the trade show is still where much of the season is decided. You see your customers, open accounts and write orders. This guide lists the main international B2B trade shows, sector by sector. The method for booking appointments, taking orders and following up is covered in a separate guide, preparing a trade show. To place trade shows among the other sales channels, read our overview of the designer-brand wholesale market.

The figures quoted are those the organisers publish for the edition stated. Dates, venues and formats change: always check them on the official website before booking. The selection only includes international shows, attended by buyers from many countries; national events are presented at the end of the article.

How to choose a trade show: five criteria before you book

Timing is the criterion most often overlooked. A buyer who has already committed her season’s budget, her open-to-buy, still walks the stands, but she no longer places orders. For a show outside Europe, the region criterion raises another question: who will look after the accounts once you are back home? An agent covering the territory answers that one.

Organisers’ figures should be compared with care

Organisers do not all count the same thing. Pitti Uomo reports buyers, MAGIC Las Vegas and MIDO attendees, Who’s Next and SILMO Paris visitors. A simple ratio still helps to read their results. At Pitti Uomo in June 2026, 11,030 buyers for 740 exhibitors works out at about 15 buyers per exhibitor. At Outdoor Retailer in 2026, more than 550 retail buyers for more than 275 exhibitors gives a ratio of roughly 2. A small, highly targeted show can still pay off if every meeting counts. A large general show, by contrast, means filling your diary well in advance.

Fashion, ready-to-wear and accessories: Paris, Florence and Las Vegas

Fashion shows follow the rhythm of the selling campaigns: two main sessions a year, aligned with the seasons and, in Paris, with fashion weeks.

Footwear: Milan for brands, Riva del Garda for volume

Optical and eyewear: three shows, from January to September

The optical year opens in Munich, moves on to Milan and closes in Paris. A frame brand can therefore spread its efforts across three markets.

Jewellery and watches: Munich, Vicenza and Las Vegas

Home and interiors: which show for decor and design?

Sports and outdoor: a calendar that has changed cities

The sector’s two major shows have moved: ISPO from Munich to Amsterdam, Outdoor Retailer to Minneapolis. A brand that books out of habit risks heading to the wrong city.

Cosmetics and fragrance: Bologna, Hong Kong and Dubai

Textile sourcing shows: where brands buy their materials

At these shows, the brand changes roles: it is not selling, it is buying. Its design and production teams choose yarns, fabrics, leathers and trims there, well ahead of the selling season.

Trade show or showroom: the first wins accounts, the second grows them

A trade show packs into a few days many buyers the brand does not know yet. It is the tool for winning new business. A showroom, physical during fashion weeks or digital and open all year round, is better suited to growing existing accounts and taking in-season reorders.

Most brands combine the two. Abroad, an agent or importer present at the show carries the work on after the doors close: our guide to selling wholesale for export explains how these relays work. To follow the dates and results of each edition, read the trade press of each industry.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most important trade show for a fashion brand?

No single show suits every brand: it depends on the product and the target markets. Pitti Uomo is the benchmark for menswear, Première Classe for designer accessories, Who’s Next for reaching a broad range of boutiques and MAGIC Las Vegas for North America. The best starting point is still where your buyers already go.

When are the fashion trade shows in Paris?

Who’s Next is held at Porte de Versailles in January and September, Première Classe in the Jardin des Tuileries in March and October, during women’s fashion week. On the sourcing side, Première Vision Paris takes place twice a year at Paris Nord Villepinte. The exact dates of each edition are listed in the upcoming trade show schedule, further up this page.

Can a young brand exhibit at a major trade show?

Yes, but many shows select exhibitors on application and the cost of a stand weighs heavily on a launch budget. Emerging designer areas, shared stands and national pavilions organised by export promotion agencies make it possible to start at a lower cost.

Are trade shows open to the public?

Most are reserved for professionals: entry requires registration and often proof of trade activity. A few open to the general public on certain days, such as the Salone del Mobile.Milano on its last two days.

What is the difference between a selling show and a sourcing show?

At a selling show, the brand exhibits its collections and takes orders from retailers. At a sourcing show, such as Première Vision Paris or Milano Unica, it comes as a visitor: it chooses its materials and manufacturers for upcoming collections.
